1992年夏季奥林匹克运动会篮球比赛是奥运会历史上第一次允许职业运动员参加的比赛，美国派出了乔丹，约翰逊，伯德领衔的梦之队并顺利获得男子金牌。女子金牌被独联体队获得。

男子賽事

除美国对外国际篮坛的另外两支强队苏联、南斯拉夫队由于政治原因参赛球队有所变化。前苏联国家派出独联体队和立陶宛队参加该届奥运会，在争夺季军的比赛中，立陶宛队战胜独联体队获得季军；前南斯拉夫国家中的南联盟队由于政治原因被禁赛，克罗地亚表现出色在该届比赛中获得了亚军。
